New Delhi, March 10 (IANS). Leading American technology company Apple has increased production in India by about 53 percent in 2025 and has assembled about 55 million units during this period, this figure was 36 million units in the previous year. This information was given in the reports.

A report released by Bloomberg said that Apple is producing about a quarter of its flagship products in India to avoid tariffs on Chinese products in the US.

The report said that Apple produces about 22-23 crore iPhones globally every year, in which India’s share is increasing rapidly. The reason for this is the incentive provided by the government under Production Linked Incentive (PLI).

The incentives under PLI have helped overcome structural cost deficiencies such as weak supply chains and logistics challenges compared to China.

Apple now manufactures all iPhone 17 series models, including the Pro and Pro Max models, in India through suppliers such as Foxconn Technology Group, Tata Electronics and Pegatron Corp. Older models like iPhone 15 and 16 are being manufactured locally for domestic sale and export.

After sales in India crossed $9 billion, Apple is expanding its retail network and now has six stores. Also, the company is preparing to launch Apple Pay in India later this year.

According to industry data, Apple’s iPhone is set to become the most valuable item exported from India in 2025. During this period, Apple exported iPhones worth about $23 billion from plants located in the country, most of which were sent to America.

With exports worth a total of $30.13 billion in the January-December period, smartphones have become India’s top export category for the first time. Apple’s share in total smartphone exports has been 76 percent.
