New Delhi, December 24 (IANS). Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), the renewable energy company of Adani Group, has been ranked first among Energy Intelligence’s ‘Global Top 100 Green Utilities’, reflecting the rapid transition towards low-carbon power generation and Adani Group’s key role in climate action efforts.
Last year, Adani Green was at third place in this list, but this time it has achieved a historic achievement by securing the first place. Earlier this position was held by the Chinese company China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), which has now come to the fourth position. This is considered a big achievement for Adani Green.
Two Indian companies are included in this top 10 list and there are a total of six Indian companies in the top 100. Earlier, there was only one Indian company in the first list made in 2011. It is clear from this that India is now progressing rapidly in the field of green energy.
This ranking is decided by looking at the solar and wind energy capacity of the companies and the greenhouse gas pollution they emit. Companies which have less pollution and more green energy get better ranks.
Adani Group Chief Financial Officer Jugeshinder Singh said that now both the right rules and the right costs exist for green energy. Therefore, moving towards clean energy is not only necessary but also economically beneficial.
This ranking also shows that Asia is now leading the world in green energy. Half of the top 10 companies are from Asia, which includes companies from India and China. The rest of the companies are from Europe.
The report also revealed that carbon dioxide pollution from companies producing green electricity reduced by 6 percent last year. This shows that the world is gradually moving towards clean and clear energy.
James Cocken, managing editor of Energy Intelligence, said that as the world becomes more dependent on electricity, energy companies are now investing more in solar and wind power because it is cheaper and beneficial to the environment.
He said this is especially true in the context of Asia, which is playing a key role in the global energy transition. The role of the world’s top 100 green energy companies can be seen in this direction.
