New Delhi, December 13 (IANS). The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) is building a strong and credible cyber security ecosystem in line with the vision of Digital India through its research collaborations, public-private partnerships and participation in international forums. This information was given by the government on Saturday.
Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director General, CERT-In and Controller of Certification Authorities (CCA), MeitY, said that CERT-In issues timely alerts and adaptive advisories to organizations and citizens against emerging threats thereby ensuring proactive security without creating unnecessary panic.
Speaking at a session for journalists from Europe, the US and Central Asian countries, Dr. Bahl also highlighted India’s rapid emergence as a global cyber security hub, powering a $20 billion cyber security industry with over 400 startups and over 6.5 lakh skilled professionals.
He said innovators are developing advanced solutions for threat detection, cyber forensics and AI-based surveillance systems that strengthen India’s commitment towards a secure and resilient digital ecosystem.
Emphasizing on the changing threat landscape, Dr. Bahl said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) acts like a double-edged sword that enables both defenders and adversaries. He detailed how CERT-In uses AI-powered analytics and automation to detect, prevent and respond to cyber incidents in real-time, as well as develop countermeasures against malicious AI-enabled attacks.
The visiting journalists were briefed on CERT-In’s ongoing practices, capacity-building initiatives and international collaborations. These include publishing a joint high-level risk analysis report titled ‘Building Trust in AI through a Cyber Risk Based Approach’ with the French National Cyber Security Agency (ANSI), working in collaboration with other national authorities including CERT-In, and jointly conducting exercises with international partners and global and regional cyber security forums.
