New Delhi, May 25 (IANS). The central government said on Monday that fuel supply in the country remains normal. More than 1.72 crore LPG cylinders have been delivered in the last four days. At the same time, around 1.66 crore LPG cylinders have been booked during this period.
Officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Ministry of External Affairs said in a media briefing held at the National Media Center in the national capital that fuel supply in the country remains normal and appropriate steps are being taken to maintain stability.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said that about 1.72 crore LPG cylinders have been delivered in the last four days and during this period, bookings of about 1.66 crore LPG cylinders have been seen.
According to the government, challenges remain in domestic LPG supply due to ongoing geopolitical tensions, but priority has been given to supply to domestic consumers to avoid any disruption in supply.
Officials said that till now no shortage has been reported at LPG distribution centres.
The government also noted the increase in digital booking and delivery authentication systems. Industry-wide online LPG cylinder booking reached nearly 99 per cent on Sunday, while delivery authentication code (DAC) based deliveries increased to nearly 95 per cent.
Under the DAC system, a code is sent to consumers on their registered mobile numbers, which aims to prevent misappropriation of LPG cylinders.
Regarding commercial LPG, the government said the allocation has been increased to about 70 per cent of the pre-crisis level, including 10 per cent reform-related allocation.
In the last four days, around 24,557 MT of commercial LPG was sold across the country, while public sector oil marketing companies sold around 942 MT of auto LPG in the same period.
The government further said that a total of 1,56,898 metric tonnes of commercial LPG has been sold since May 1, 2026.
The ministry also mentioned efforts to promote the use of 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders.
In the last four days, around 1.96 lakh 5 kg FTL cylinders were sold. Since April 3, 2026, public sector oil marketing companies have conducted around 15,400 awareness camps across states and union territories, resulting in the sale of over 2.45 lakh 5 kg FTL cylinders.
Officials said around 1,487 cylinders were sold through 82 awareness camps on Sunday alone.
