Tecno has launched a new smartphone of its Pova series, Tecno Pova 8, in the Indian market. This is a different version of Pova 7, in which the company has tried to improve many things. The biggest feature of this phone is its ‘Alive Matrix Display’ on the back, which shows customizable notification alerts – this feature makes it different from others. It is available in three colors: 16-bit White, Plasma Orange and Terminal Green.
The phone has been launched in two variants: the first comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and is priced at ₹29,999, while the 8GB RAM model is priced at ₹31,999. It is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset, which is built on 6nm process and has Mali-G610 MC2 GPU for graphics. It has a combination of UFS 2.2 storage with LPDDR5x RAM and special G1 and SE1 signal chipsets to improve network connectivity.
Display, camera and performance
The Pova 8 features a 6.76-inch Full HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 1080×2344 pixels. The screen supports 144Hz refresh rate, providing a smooth experience while gaming and watching videos. Its screen-to-body ratio is 91.29% and pixel density is 381ppi. In high-brightness mode, it can reach a peak brightness of 950 nits, while the instant touch sampling rate of 1500Hz ensures fast response while gaming.
There is a 50MP Sony LYT-600 primary sensor on the back of the phone, with which a light sensor is also provided. The phone has a 13MP front camera for selfies and video calling. It has many features like AI cam, portrait mode, super night mode, time-lapse, dual video, vlog video and slow motion.
The phone has an 8,000mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging. The company claims that on a single charge it provides more than 1,198 hours of standby time, up to 39.5 hours of calling and about 18 hours of video playback. Apart from this, it has a 14,689-square-millimeter cooling system to control the temperature during gaming. The device is MIL-STD-810H certified and has an IP64 rating, which protects it from dust and water splashes. Talking about software, it runs on HiOS 16 based on Android 16.
