New Delhi, June 19 (IANS). The ‘Developed India-Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission-Rural’ (VB-G Ram Ji) Act is going to be implemented in all the rural areas of the country from July 1. For this, the Central Government has decided to deploy more than 100 officers across the country.
According to the Ministry of Rural Development, more than 100 officers will be deployed across the country to help the states and union territories ahead of the implementation of the ‘VB-Ji Ram Ji’ Act. These officers will work as facilitators and resource persons during the rollout phase.
They will work closely with state governments and district administrations to support implementation, strengthen local capacities, facilitate information sharing, help resolve operational challenges and promote adoption of good practices.
They will also interact with officials at the local level to understand implementation requirements, facilitate exchange of experiences and good practices, support capacity-building efforts and help resolve operational issues.
According to the official statement, their participation will help in strengthening coordination between different stakeholders and effectively implementing the new framework during the transition. This initiative has been started to provide institutional support and easy implementation of the Act across the country.
About 27 States and Union Territories have already made budgetary provision for implementing the Act, while six States and Union Territories have notified their State Plans under the framework of the Act. The statement said that the remaining states and union territories have made considerable progress in finalizing their plans.
A central feature of this Act is to increase the statutory employment guarantee from 100 days to 125 days in each financial year for all rural households. This enhanced guarantee is aimed at strengthening livelihood security, improving income stability, supporting rural consumption and providing greater economic resilience to vulnerable households.
This framework is based on the principle of ‘Employment as well as Respect’. Its objective is not just to provide wage employment, but also to ensure that rural workers become active participants in the creation of sustainable and productive public assets that contribute to long-term rural development.
