New Delhi, May 15 (IANS). ChatGPT’s parent company OpenAI has integrated its AI coding assistant ‘Codex’ into the ChatGPT mobile app, allowing developers to monitor, manage and approve coding tasks remotely from their smartphones.
This feature is currently rolling out in preview mode and is being made available on all ChatGPT plans, including Free and Go.
After this integration, users will be able to connect their phones to machines running the codec such as laptops, Mac Mini, development boxes and managed remote systems. Through this, they will be able to see live updates related to the project directly on the ChatGPT app.
According to OpenAI, the mobile experience will allow users to review output, approve commands, change AI models, start new coding tasks, and monitor work in progress, all without having to return to a desktop system.
“Real-time updates such as screenshots, terminal output, diffs, test results and approvals will continue to be synced to the mobile app, while files, login information and permission-related data will remain secure on the connected machine,” the company said.
The company also revealed that more than 4 million people are now using Codex every week.
OpenAI said remote SSH support and hooks are now generally available across all plans, while programmatic access tokens have also been introduced for enterprise and business users.
Additionally, OpenAI noted that HIPAA-compliant support will also be provided for use of the codec on local systems in eligible ChatGPT Enterprise Workspaces for the healthcare and enterprise sectors.
The company also announced that it will soon launch the feature of connecting codecs running on Windows systems to the ChatGPT mobile app.
