New Delhi, April 8 (IANS). Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said he held fruitful virtual talks with several world leaders to further strengthen bilateral relations and trade.
Piyush Goyal held ‘virtual talks’ with Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Foreign Trade Minister of UAE. Giving information on social media platform X, Piyush Goyal wrote that we discussed further strengthening India-UAE trade relations and expanding opportunities for deeper bilateral cooperation. We look forward to taking our strategic partnership to new heights.
He also held talks with Francisco Pérez McKenna, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Chile. Piyush Goyal said that we discussed taking forward our FTA (Free Trade Agreement) negotiations and explored opportunities to further strengthen bilateral relations and trade. We look forward to deepening our cooperation and finalizing a mutually beneficial agreement soon.
The Union Minister also held virtual talks with Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). He said we discussed strengthening India-GCC cooperation in various sectors and reiterated our shared commitment to enhancing economic and strategic ties.
He also had a successful virtual meeting with Osama Khalid Budai, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Kuwait. Goyal said we exchanged views on expanding bilateral trade relations and deepening cooperation in key areas.
Piyush Goyal also addressed virtually at the launch of the India-USA Trade Facilitation Portal. The Commerce Minister said that this is a visionary initiative that will enable direct engagement between Indian exporters and US importers, providing more opportunities to further deepen our bilateral trade partnership.
Meanwhile, Goyal recently said the government is preparing a new set of measures to help Indian exporters deal with disruptions to global trade caused by the ongoing conflict in West Asia. He indicated that several decisions are currently under consideration in various ministries and are likely to be announced soon.
