New Delhi, November 15 (IANS). According to information given by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy on Saturday, public sector undertaking Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) exchanged Government Orders (GO) with the Andhra Pradesh government for the development of 1200 MW capacity Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and 50 MW capacity Hybrid Solar Project at Nandyal.
This exchange of Government Orders (GO) is a milestone towards strengthening the renewable energy infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh.
According to the information given by the ministry, Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar met Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Government K. The government order was formally handed over to SECI in the presence of Vijayanand and NREDCAP Vice President M. Kamalakar Babu.
This exchange of Government Orders (GO) took place during the Energy Session of Andhra Pradesh Partnership Summit 2025 held in Visakhapatnam. It was organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Government of Andhra Pradesh in collaboration with CII.
According to the Centre, BESS and hybrid solar products will be developed under CAPEX mode and full investment responsibilities will be borne by SECI.
According to the official statement, the Ministry of Power, through an order dated January 23, 2025, had made SECI the implementing agency for the 1200 MW capacity BESS project under Market Based Operation. After this, this project was approved by SECI Board Chairman Santosh Kumar Sarangi on 22 October 2025.
SECI reiterates its commitment to partner with states and central ministries to move India towards a greener and stronger energy future.
Both of these projects represent a major and significant leap forward in clean energy storage capacity, strengthening the state’s renewable ecosystem while simultaneously enabling India’s transition to a more robust and storage-enabled green grid.
