New Delhi, January 9 (IANS). According to the monthly data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) on Friday, there was an investment of Rs 28,054.06 crore in equity mutual funds (MF) in December, in which SIP played the most important role. This month, Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) created a new record by making the highest investment ever.
According to AMFI data, investments under mutual fund SIPs rose to Rs 31,002 crore in December, the highest level ever. In November this amount was Rs 29,445 crore. This shows that the confidence of small investors still remains.
Not only this, an investment of Rs 11,647 crore was made in Gold ETF Fund in December, which was Rs 3,742 crore in November. It is clear from this that the trend of investors has increased towards safe investment.
However, the mutual fund industry recorded a withdrawal of Rs 66,591 crore in December, while there was a net investment of Rs 32,755 crore in November. Although investment has decreased, still a good share remained in some categories.
According to AMFI, investment in all equity fund categories decreased in December compared to November, but flexi-cap funds remained at the forefront. Investments in flexi-cap funds increased to Rs 10,019 crore, compared to Rs 8,135 crore in November.
Inflows into large-cap funds stood at Rs 1,567 crore in December, compared to Rs 1,640 crore in November. At the same time, investment of Rs 4,176 crore was recorded in mid-cap funds, which is less than Rs 4,487 crore in November.
Investments in small-cap funds stood at Rs 3,824 crore in December, compared to Rs 4,407 crore in November.
Investments in sector and theme based funds declined by 49 percent. In December, investment in this category was Rs 946 crore, whereas in November it was Rs 1,865 crore.
There was a withdrawal of Rs 1.32 lakh crore from debt mutual funds in December, which was Rs 25,692.63 crore in November.
There was an investment of Rs 254.25 crore in overnight funds in December, while there was an investment of Rs 37,624.5 crore in November. Withdrawals of Rs 47,307.95 crore were recorded from liquid funds in December, which is more than November.
Investment in hybrid schemes was Rs 10,755.57 crore in December, while it was Rs 13,299.20 crore in November. Arbitrage funds also saw an investment of Rs 126.31 crore this month, while an investment of Rs 4,191.90 crore was recorded in November.
Several new fund offers were also launched in December. In other ETF categories, the maximum number of 8 new funds were launched, while a total of 23 new funds were launched in November, in which Rs 4,074 crore was invested. Earlier in the month, 24 new funds were launched, in which investment of Rs 3,126 crore was recorded.
