The death toll in the ongoing protests in Kathmandu Valley has increased to 31, Kathmandu Post, citing officials of the Forensic Medicine Department of Tribhuvan University Education Hospital, said that the dead have been brought for post -mortem examination.

According to Kathmandu Post on Wednesday, the identity of 25 victims has been confirmed so far. The remaining six persons, five men and one woman, have not yet been identified.

According to Kathmandu Post, the head of the department, Dr. Gopal Kumar Chaudhary said, “We have done a post -mortem following the international protocol. We have been asked to keep the body safe; we cannot give detailed information about the deceased.”

Officials said that most of the identity was done by the documents or families identified at the demonstration sites.

In addition, more than 1000 people were injured in protests throughout the region.

Meanwhile, according to the report of Kathmandu Post, the condition of former Nepali Prime Minister Khanal’s wife remains critical after the incident occurred during violent demonstrations across the country.

Despite the news of the death of Ravi Lakshmi, wife of former Prime Minister and senior CPN (Integrated Socialist) leader Jhala Nath Khanal in the arson, his condition remains critical. She is severely burnt.

According to Kathmandu Post, the painter was admitted to Kirtipur Hospital on Tuesday after the incident. The incident occurred when the protesters set fire to her residence in Dallu area of Kathmandu while she was still inside.

According to the Himalayan Post report, talks are going on between representatives of Nepali Army, Nepal President Ram Chandra Paudel and Jane Z youth to determine the leadership of the interim government amid the ongoing political unrest.

According to the Himalayan Post, quoting sources, the protesting leaders of Generation Z have unanimously elected former Chief Justice of Nepal Sushila Karki for the post of interim Prime Minister.

The talks will begin between Karki’s team and Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel, including army leadership, and according to the situation it can go to the President’s Office at Sheetal Niwas.

Balendra Shah ‘Balen’, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has also expressed his support for Karki, which has strengthened his position as a well -known candidate of the Jane Z movement.

Protests began in other major cities including Kathmandu and Pokhara, Butwal and Birganj on 8 September, 2025, after the government banned major social media platforms citing concerns over tax revenue and cyber security.

According to a statement issued by the Nepali army, curfew has been imposed in several cities including Kathmandu to control the situation, which will continue till Friday morning.

Demonstrating rule is demanding to end “institutional corruption and bias”. They want the government to be more accountable and transparent in its decision -making process.

The frustration of the public further increased when the “Napo Babies” trend on social media exposed the luxurious lifestyle of the children of politicians and exposed the economic inequality between them and common citizens.
