A major security lapse has come to light at ‘Mar-a-Lago’ resort in Florida, America. On 22 February 2026, around 1:30 am, an armed man tried to break the security cordon and enter inside. Secret Service agents present at the scene took immediate action and shot the suspect, killing him. It was fortunate that President Donald Trump was not present there at the time of the incident.
How did the entire incident happen and what weapons were found?
According to the investigating officers, the suspect had reached the North Gate of the resort with his car. As soon as another vehicle was coming out from there, the suspect rapidly rammed his vehicle inside. Secret Service agents stationed there and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies immediately stopped him.
When confronted the suspect put down a fuel can, but picked up his shotgun and brought it into firing position. Sensing the danger, the security personnel opened fire, killing the attacker on the spot. During investigation, a shotgun and a fuel can have been recovered from him.
Who was the attacker and where was the President?
Officials have said that the attacker was around 20 years old and was a resident of North Carolina. His family had filed his missing report a few days before the incident. At present his identity has been kept secret until his next of kin are informed.
The most important thing is that when this incident happened, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were in the White House. No one with Secret Service protection was present at the resort at the time. The FBI and local police are now trying to find out what the real motive of the attacker was.
