Former US National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sulivan alleged that US President Donald Trump “abolished” relations with India due to his desire to do family trade with Pakistan.

In an interview with YouTube channel of Midasatch Network, Sulivan highlighted the importance of Indo-US relations and insisted that Trump’s move would lead to the US allies to confirm their confidence in Washington.

Jake Sulivan told Midasatch, “The US has worked towards having a relationship with India, a country with which we should coordinate on technology, talent, economy and many issues. And also keep pace with the strategic threats coming from China.”

He said, “Now, I think this has happened due to Pakistan’s desire to trade with the Trump family. Trump has shifted relations with India. Germany or Japan will look at that (India) looking at that (India) that we can do this tomorrow. Friends of America will think that they cannot trust us in any way.”

Sulivan’s comment has come amid increasing stress between Washington and New Delhi, as 50 percent of tariffs have been imposed on Indian goods, including 25 percent penalty for purchasing Russian oil.

Earlier, US Finance Minister Scott Besant had expressed confidence that India and America would resolve trade differences between them, as they believed that the values of New Delhi were closer to Washington than China and Russia.

In an interview with Fox Business, Scott Besant reduced the importance of the Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan (SCO) summit and described it as “most of the protesters”.

Besant said, “This is a long -standing meeting, it is called the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and I think it is a very formal. I think India is eventually the world’s most populous democracy. Their value is more than us and China than Russia.”

He told Fox Business, “I think two great countries will eventually find a solution to this problem. But India has not been a good player in terms of buying Russian oil and then selling it, and funding Russian war efforts in Ukraine.”

On the other hand, White House business advisor Peter Navarro attacked India, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Talking to reporters, Navaro criticized Prime Minister Modi and said that he has decided to “go to bed with the ruling” and described the meeting as shameful.

He said, “It is ashamed to see that Modi, the world’s largest democracy, got mixed up with Putin and Xi Jinping, the two biggest dictators of the world. It does not make any rhyme. I do not understand what he is thinking.”

Peter Navarro said, “We hope that they will understand that they should live with us, not with Russia, with Europe and Ukraine.”

Prime Minister Modi in his address to the SCO stressed the need to increase the contact between members to promote trade. He said, “India has always believed that strong contact not only promotes business, but also opens the doors of development and faith.”
