The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has inaugurated a new dialysis unit at its floating hospital in Al Arish, Egypt as part of humanitarian assistance. UAE Ambassador to Egypt Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi launched the facility on 10 February 2026. The initiative is part of ‘Operation Gallant Night 3’, which aims to help displaced patients from the Gaza Strip who are suffering from kidney problems.
What facilities will be available in the dialysis unit?
This new unit has been specially designed keeping in mind the increasing number and demand of kidney patients. Modern machines and medical teams are present here to treat patients. The aim of this unit is to provide treatment to patients near their residence so that they do not have to travel much.
Machines: Two new dialysis machines have been installed in the unit.
Capacity: A total of six dialysis sessions can be completed in a day.
Time: Each dialysis session will last for approximately four hours.
Cost: The treatment and stay is absolutely free for the patients and their accompanying persons.
The hospital’s work and impact so far
This 100-bed floating hospital located at Al Arish Port is operational from 24 February 2024. Its purpose is to provide necessary medical assistance to the residents of Gaza. Facilities like physiotherapy department, operation theater and ICU already exist in the hospital.
According to statistics, this hospital has provided more than 12,000 medical services so far and performed more than 5,000 successful surgeries. After the opening of Rafah crossing on 7 February 2026, 10 new patients were admitted here from Gaza. This hospital is continuously playing an important role in saving the lives of patients suffering from serious diseases.
