New Delhi, October 14 (IANS). Menopause is a natural and inevitable phase in women’s lives, which usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55. This is the time when hormonal changes occur in women’s body and menstruation stops.
At this time both physical and mental changes are experienced. Generally women may experience hot flashes, mood swings, sleep problems, joint pain, fatigue and many other symptoms during this period.
Menopause not only brings physical changes but also affects the mental and emotional health of women. Sudden mood swings, irritability, anxiety and stress are common experiences. Insomnia or waking up repeatedly at night also affects the daily routine of women. Along with this, problems like stiffness in joints, weakness, lack of memory and energy are also common.
According to Ayurveda, maintaining the balance of body, mind and soul is extremely important at this time. Herbs like asparagus are helpful in maintaining hormonal balance, reducing physical weakness and providing mental peace.
Apart from this, importance of daily lifestyle, virtuous living, balanced diet and yoga and pranayam is also mentioned in Ayurvedic approach.
Yoga and pranayam not only reduce stress and anxiety, but also help maintain energy in the body, keep bones and joints strong and improve sleep.
Ayurveda believes that accepting this natural life stage and taking proper care of it helps women not only stay healthy but also enjoy this new chapter of life.
Menopause is a sensitive, but empowering and positive phase of women’s lives. Women can easily face this change through right knowledge, Ayurvedic treatment, yoga, meditation and balanced lifestyle. This time is not only an opportunity to take care of the body but also to pay attention to mental and spiritual health.
