New Delhi, 6 November (IANS). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal along with New Zealand Trade Minister Todd McClay arrived at Te Puia, Rotterdam, where they were given a traditional Maori welcome.
Union Minister Goyal on Thursday, through a post on social media platform
“Delighted to receive a traditional Māori welcome upon arriving at Te Puia, Rotarya, with New Zealand’s Trade Minister Todd McClay,” he wrote on Twitter.
He further said, “I respect this cultural gesture that symbolizes welcoming us into our tribe in the spirit of peace, harmony and mutual development. I presented a statue of the sacred Kamdhenu cow, considered auspicious for bringing prosperity in Indian culture, as a symbol of the special and growing mutual relations between our two countries.”
Union Minister Goyal also expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome given to him by rotorua mayor Tania Tapsell.
He addressed the India-New Zealand CEOs Roundtable along with his counterpart Todd McClay in Rotterdam.
In his address, the Union Minister talked about the economic landscape of India.
In another post, Union Minister Goyal wrote, “I was extremely pleased to address the India-New Zealand CEO Roundtable with my counterpart Todd McClay in Rotterdam.”
Giving information, he said, “I talked about India’s rapidly changing economic landscape and how greater cooperation in areas like technology, agriculture, education, clean energy and sustainability can open up new avenues of growth.”
Union Minister Goyal said that many business leaders in the roundtable were of Indian origin.
“It was heartening to note that many of the business leaders at the roundtable were of Indian origin. I encourage New Zealand companies to engage more closely with Indian industry in this shared journey that promises mutual benefits and long-term value for both parties,” he wrote in the post.
