The government of Oman has launched a major humanitarian mission to help the people of Yemen ahead of the month of Ramadan. Oman Charitable Organization (OCO) has sent relief supplies via a land bridge to Yemen’s Al Mahra Governorate. Under this initiative, more than 28,500 food packets are being distributed so that about 1 lakh people do not face shortage of food during Ramzan.
What is included in the relief material?
Daily essential items have been included in the packets sent under this assistance. Officials said it contained basic commodities like flour, oil, rice and sugar. These goods are being sent by road through trucks because this method is cheaper and faster than sea or air route. On 12 February 2026, the first convoy of trucks has reached Al Mahara and unloading work has started there.
Rules made for distributing help
Aid will be provided only to low-income families and widows Displaced People (IDPs) have been given priority The distribution is being carried out in collaboration with local Yemeni authorities OCO CEO Badr bin Mohammed Al Zaabi is overseeing the entire operation
About 57 million Omani Rials have been earmarked for social assistance in Oman’s 2026 budget. This fund is being used to provide humanitarian aid to neighboring countries. Oman has made it clear that it will continue its support for regional stability and humanity.
