A big relief news has emerged for the expatriates and local citizens living in Qatar. On March 6, 2026, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MOI) and Ministry of Commerce have clearly stated that there is no shortage of food items and medicines in the country. The government has appealed to the people not to panic in any way and not to create unnecessary crowd by going to the markets.
What did the government say on the stock of ration and medicines?
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has confirmed that Qatar currently has more than 6 months of Strategic Food Reserve. This means that there will be no shortage of any goods for many months to come. The Ministry has also informed that:
Complete stock of medicines is available in hospitals and pharmacies. For the convenience of the people, the number of retail shops open 24 hours has been increased from 22 to more than 60. Health services and hospitals are functioning normally.
What is the rule against hoarding and rumor mongers?
The government has issued a strict warning saying that people should not stockpile ration in their homes without any reason. This would be considered as ‘improper storage’, which could create artificial shortage in the market. Apart from this, the police is also keeping a close eye on those spreading wrong information.
According to the latest information, around 194 people have been arrested so far for spreading rumors on social media and creating an atmosphere of fear. Also, in view of the month of Ramzan, special discounts are being given on more than 1,000 products so that prices remain under control and the common man is not burdened.
