UAE’s air defense has achieved a major success amid the ongoing tension between UAE and Iran for the last two weeks. According to the Defense Ministry, since February 28, 2026, more than 1500 missiles and drones fired by Iran have been destroyed in the air. In this difficult time, 5 countries including America, Britain and Australia have announced to provide military assistance to UAE.

Which 5 countries gave military help to UAE?
To further strengthen the security of UAE, many big countries of the world have deployed their air defense systems and military equipment.
America (US): Deploying THAAD system and Patriot interceptor from the Indo-Pacific region.
United Kingdom: Typhoon jet, HMS Dragon warship and a team of experts are being sent for security.
Australia: E-7A Wedgetail is providing surveillance aircraft and modern air-to-air missiles.
France: It is helping in security and surveillance through its aircraft present in UAE.
Italy and other countries: Together with Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, we are ensuring the air security of the Gulf.
What are the new rules for common people and migrants?
In view of this environment, the government has made many rules for the common people and the expats living here. Some relief has also been given for Indians or other expatriates who want to come back.
Visa Rules: ICP has given great relief to those residents whose visas have expired. They can return to UAE till 31 March 2026 without obtaining a new permit.
Ban on drones: GCAA has completely banned flying all types of drones and light sports aircraft due to security reasons.
Flight Update: Airlines like IndiGo and Etihad have canceled or limited many of their flights to Kuwait, Bahrain and Doha till March 28.
Schools and Colleges: Keeping in mind the safety of children, spring break has been started early and many examinations are being taken online.
Losses so far and legal action
On March 14, 2026, the UAE Defense Ministry reported that they had shot down 9 ballistic missiles and 33 drones. According to ministry spokesman Brigadier Staff Mohammed Al Ketbi, most of the threat has been foiled. Recently a drone fell on a building in Dubai Creek Harbor causing a fire but there is no news of anyone being injured.
So far, a total of 6 people have lost their lives in this attack, which includes Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi and Emirati citizens. Apart from this, 141 people have suffered minor injuries. The police is also strict against those spreading rumours. 10 people who posted air defense videos on social media and 45 people who spread false news have been arrested. NCEMA has advised all citizens and migrants to stay in safe places.
