New Delhi . India’s Ambassador to Thailand Nagesh Singh met the country’s King and Queen at the end of his tenure. The Indian Embassy in Thailand shared pictures of this meeting. The 1995 batch IFS officer was appointed Ambassador to Thailand in August 2022. The Indian Embassy in Thailand shared pictures of the meeting with the King and the Queen and wrote, “The King and the Queen met the Ambassador, who bid farewell at the completion of his time in Thailand.” In this picture, along with the King and Queen of Thailand, an official of the country is also present, who is seen standing on his knees. This picture attracted attention as to why a high level official was kneeling?
Actually, in Thailand it is done in honor of the royal family. High-ranking military or administrative officials show respect to the royal family by kneeling or crawling. It is called ‘Grab’ in the local language. This is a very old tradition of Thailand.
Apart from bidding farewell to the King and Queen of Thailand, Ambassador Nagesh Singh also met the country’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and bid farewell as his tenure comes to an end. Ambassador Nagesh Singh thanked the Prime Minister for his guidance and assured support to strengthen the wide-ranging strategic partnership between the two countries.
