New Delhi . The 2026 Haj pilgrimage from India begins on Saturday, with the first batch leaving for Mecca in Saudi Arabia today. Passengers started arriving at the airport since morning for the first flight. This batch is leaving for Saudi Arabia from various departure points across the country. A total of 1,75,025 pilgrims are expected to participate in the annual Haj pilgrimage this year. Delhi Haj Committee Chairperson Kausar was seen present at the airport. The Ministry of Minority Affairs, the nodal body for Haj arrangements, has made extensive preparations in coordination with the Haj Committee of India, other Central Ministries, State Governments and Saudi authorities to ensure seamless logistics and better facilities at the ground level.
Speaking to reporters, Delhi Haj Committee Chairperson Kausar Jahan said, “Today is the first flight of Haj 2026, in which 371 pilgrims are embarking on their journey. I would like to heartily congratulate everyone. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, all the facilities are being continuously enhanced and our government is trying its best to ensure that their journey is as easy, pleasant and pleasant as possible.”
Speaking to news agency , a pilgrim said, “By the will of Allah and with everyone’s prayers, Allah has granted me the good fortune of Haj 2026. Today, by the will of Allah, our first flight is from Indira Gandhi Airport in India.”
A pilgrim said, “We will pray for everyone. Every Muslim should have the opportunity to reach there. This is the first time in my life that I have got a chance to undertake such a journey, and I am very happy.”
A pilgrim said that I am a resident of Delhi. I don’t have words to describe this feeling. I have thanked the government for this.
Let us inform that the government has increased the insurance coverage for each pilgrim to about Rs 6.25 lakh, which will strengthen the financial and health security during the journey. Additionally, approximately 60,000 pilgrims will benefit from the launch of high-speed train service between Mecca and Medina, making the journey faster and more comfortable.
