Bhopal, May 11 (IANS). The India-France Investment Conference focused on strengthening industrial and technological cooperation between Madhya Pradesh and France will be held in Bhopal on May 12. The state government is making efforts to attract global investment in key sectors. The conference, to be held at the Kushabhau Thackeray International Conference Centre, is being jointly hosted by the India-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will address the main session. The session will be attended by the Ambassador of France to India, representatives of French companies, senior industry officials and state government officials. According to the Madhya Pradesh government, the objective of this conference is to showcase the state’s industrial policies, infrastructure and business opportunities to establish it as a preferred investment destination for French companies. Industrial representatives from across the state are also expected to participate in it.
Sectors such as agriculture and food processing, automobiles and electric vehicles, defense and aviation, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, renewable energy, textiles and tourism will be discussed during the event. The government said the conference will facilitate business-to-business and business-to-government meetings between French companies and state representatives to explore investment opportunities and technical cooperation.
Around 60-80 industrial representatives from Madhya Pradesh are likely to participate.
The government said on Monday that several French companies have expressed interest in investment opportunities in the kingdom. Sanofi is in talks with the All India Institute of Ayurvedic Sciences, Bhopal, to set up a center of excellence, while Dassault Systèmes is exploring collaboration in urban planning, technical education and skill development.
Sports retailer Decathlon has shown interest in sourcing and retail expansion, while Systra is looking for opportunities in metro rail, roads, railways, water management and urban planning projects, the company said. Other participating companies are expected to include EDF, Engie, Lactalis and Geodis India.
