A big case of cyber fraud has come to light in Narnaul, Haryana. The District Cyber Crime Police has arrested an accused from Rajasthan who cheated more than Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of part-time job through Telegram and Google Maps review. The accused is said to be associated with the online fraud network for a long time.
According to the police, cyber fraudsters used to lure people with part-time jobs and easy earnings from home. For this he used social media platforms Telegram and Google Maps Review. Initially, some money was transferred to people by giving them small tasks, so that their trust could be won. Later, they were made to invest huge amounts by luring them with higher profits.
Investigation revealed that the victim was defrauded of more than Rs 10 lakh in different installments. When the victim realized that he was being cheated, he lodged a complaint at the cyber crime police station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and started investigation.
After technical investigation and investigation of bank account transactions, the police team reached the accused. After this, Haryana Police raided Rajasthan and arrested the accused. The police is interrogating the accused and trying to find out how many more people are involved in this gang.
Cyber crime police say that people need to be cautious of greedy messages related to online part-time jobs and investments. Especially one should not trust unknown offers coming on Telegram, WhatsApp and social media platforms.
Police have appealed to the people to immediately lodge a complaint on cyber helpline 1930 or the nearest cyber police station in case of any kind of online fraud. According to officials, timely complaint increases the chances of tracking and getting back the defrauded amount.
Amidst the ever-increasing cyber crimes, this case has once again come as a warning to the people that trusting someone without proper investigation due to the greed of online earning can prove costly.
