Ranchi, 21 September (). The Jharkhand Congress has started a campaign to highlight the Dalit leadership in the state and connect them to the organization. In this sequence, while addressing a special workshop organized in the auditorium of the old assembly of Jharkhand on Sunday, the party’s state in -charge K Raju said that on the one hand the top leadership of the Congress is determined to uplift the Dalits and to get their rightful rights according to the thinking of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, on the other hand, the BJP government of the center is attacking his constitutional rights.
K Raju said that in the last 11 years, this government reduced or closed the amount of schemes made for Dalits. The representation of Scheduled Castes in various constitutional institutions and important bodies of the government was continuously reduced under a conspiracy.
Congress MLA Suresh Baitha accused the Center as well as the state government of not showing seriousness on the issue of Dalit welfare. He said that the Scheduled Castes Commission is not active in Jharkhand nor the Finance Corporation has been formed. The number of hostels for Dalit students is very less. He informed that while there are 121 hostels in the entire state for tribals, only 23 hostels are available for Dalit students.
Former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahai said that the Congress has been in favor of the interests of Dalits from the beginning and if the central government tries to weaken the constitution, the Congress will strongly resist it.
He said that there is a need to move forward with strategy to ensure that Dalit leadership can get proper place in the party. Congress Scheduled Caste Department State President Kedar Paswan, Spokesperson Niranjan Paswan, State Secretary Pappu Paswan, Spokesperson Jagdish Sahu and Media Department Chairman Satish Paul Munjani were attended by Scheduled Caste Congress leaders and activists from across the state.
