Muzaffarnagar, June 21 (IANS). During the Goraksharth Dharma Yudh Yatra, Jyotishpeethadhishwar Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj said that this yatra is being carried out only with the demand of making a law for the protection of Mother Cow. Expressing displeasure at the political parties, he said that despite getting votes, the leaders could not make any concrete law to protect the cow.
Speaking to reporters, Shankaracharya Maharaj said, “This yatra is being carried out with the demand of making a law for the protection of ‘Mata Cow’. We are disappointed with the leaders and political parties of the country because despite getting our votes, they could not make any law for the protection of the cow. Inspired by this sentiment, we have set out to connect with the voters across Uttar Pradesh.”
He clarified that this campaign is not against any one political party, but is inspired by the feeling of dedication towards Mother Cow and her safety. He said, “The Samajwadi Party is not officially supporting this yatra, but Hindu members associated with the party and devotees of cow mother are joining it on the basis of their faith and values.”
Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj further said, “We have told Hindus of every political party that if they have reverence for Mother Cow then they should join this Yatra. Whoever is participating in this Yatra is doing so because of his reverence for Mother Cow. It has nothing to do with any political party.”
During the yatra, Shankaracharya Maharaj is visiting various districts in the entire state and doing public relations. He said that cow conservation is not just a religious issue but is also important from cultural, environmental and economic point of view. He appealed to all the Hindu society to keep their faith strong and unite to protect Mother Cow.
On the controversy over donations in the Ayodhya Ram temple, he said, “Theft in Ayodhya is not a new thing; it has been happening since the construction of the Ram temple. Champat Rai had said that there is nothing unusual in it. This means that for him such incidents were normal or everyday.”
