New Delhi, June 21 (IANS). Coal Ministry Joint Secretary Sanjeev Kumar Kasi on Sunday said yoga is not just a one-day celebration but a lifelong practice that strengthens both body and mind.
He urged everyone to carry forward the message of International Yoga Day and include yoga in their daily routine and inspire others to do the same.
Ministry of Coal and Ministry of Mines jointly celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with great enthusiasm and participation, reaffirming the commitment of the Government to promote holistic health, mental well-being and healthy lifestyle among its officers and employees.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Veena Kumar Dermal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Mines, stressed the importance of making Yoga an integral part of daily life.
He urged all the officers and employees to adopt yoga as a daily habit. She said sitting for long periods of time can have adverse effects on physical and mental health, and regular practice of yoga is helpful in improving posture, reducing stress, increasing concentration and promoting overall health.
He encouraged everyone to dedicate a few minutes to yoga every day for a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
The program was enthusiastically participated by officers and staff of both the Ministries, reflecting their commitment towards adopting health as an integral part of professional and personal life.
According to an official statement, the collective practice of yoga promoted a feeling of unity, discipline and awareness among the participants.
This joint function underlined the shared commitment of the Ministry of Coal and the Ministry of Mines towards promoting preventive health care, workplace health and the vision of a healthier and more productive workforce, while also reiterating the importance of making Yoga a daily practice to achieve holistic health and sustainable well-being.
