Toyota sold the most hybrid cars in April 2026 and Hycross topped the list with 4,100 units.
The hybrid passenger vehicle market witnessed a decline during April 2026. After recording good sales in March 2026, total hybrid car sales declined to 8,600 units in April, compared to 11,073 units in March. In this way, a decline of 22.3 percent has been recorded in month-on-month sales. Although overall sales declined, Toyota once again maintained its dominance in the segment. At the same time, Maruti Suzuki was the company registering the biggest growth and many of its models achieved positive growth.
Toyota Innova Hycross remained the country’s best-selling hybrid car even in April 2026. 4,100 units of this premium MPV were dispatched. However, its sales declined by 35.5 percent compared to March, as 6,357 units were sold in March. Despite this, the Innova Hycross alone contributed to almost half the sales of the entire hybrid market.
Toyota Hyrider stood second with 2,657 units sold. Sales of this midsize SUV also registered a decline of 16.7 percent compared to March. Yet it remains one of the most popular hybrid SUVs in India. The biggest attraction in April 2026 was Maruti Suzuki’s new Victoris. This 5-seater model sold 793 units and registered an impressive monthly growth of 116.1 percent. It is clear that Maruti Suzuki’s new hybrid offering is getting good response from customers.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara sold 426 units and its sales increased by 5.4 percent. The Grand Vitara is sold through the company’s premium Nexa dealerships and continues to perform well due to its hybrid technology and better mileage. Maruti Suzuki Invicto made it to the top-5 list. Its 237 units were sold and it registered a growth of 24.1 percent.
Apart from this, 199 units of Toyota Camry and 118 units of Vellfire were sold. However, Vellfire sales recorded a huge decline of 47.3 percent. Honda City e:HEV was the only hybrid sedan in this list. Its 70 units were sold in April 2026. It is believed that after the facelift is launched on May 22, its sales may increase.
At the company level, Toyota maintained its complete dominance of the hybrid market by achieving 82.3 percent market share with 7,074 units. Maruti Suzuki stood second with 1,456 units and 16.9 percent share, while Honda’s share was just 0.8 percent.
