Davanagere (Karnataka), February 7 (). Channagiri MLA and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar loyalist Basavaraj V. Sivaganga said the comments made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son and Congress MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah on the leadership issue should not be taken seriously. After this statement of Sivaganga, the internal strife of Congress in Karnataka is likely to intensify further.
This development is likely to increase tension between Shivkumar and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah camp.
It is noteworthy that Yatindra Siddaramaiah had said that the party high command has not paid attention to the efforts to change the Chief Minister and his father will complete his entire tenure. He made this comment in response to Basavaraj’s statement in which he had said that the high command should intervene to resolve the ongoing confusion over the leadership issue in the state.
Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Basavaraj said his statements should be taken seriously as his vote matters in the selection of the chief ministerial candidate as he is an MLA, whereas Yathindra Siddaramaiah, being an MLC, plays no such role.
Taking a dig at Yatindra Siddaramaiah, he asked that when he does not have votes then why do you (media) pay attention to his statements?
He alleged that Yatindra Siddaramaiah is repeatedly saying that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will remain the Chief Minister for five years.
He said that the party high command has taken cognizance of the statements of Yatindra Siddaramaiah. Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi are in the party. The party should clarify whether there is any arrangement for power-sharing or not.
