Chandigarh. AAP government of Punjab is bringing Punjab Yuva Udyog Yojana to make the future of students bright. Under this scheme, skill education in business and marketing will be provided to class 11th and 12th students of government schools. The Mann government has taken a big step towards promoting skill education by moving away from the traditional structure of education. Its objective is not only to give bookish knowledge to the youth but also to prepare them for employment. This vision of the government will create new opportunities for the youth of the state and make them self-reliant. Under this scheme, students will not only gain financial literacy and independence but will also learn the basics of marketing and entrepreneurship. By incorporating modern technology, the government is ensuring that skill training is in line with new technologies and industry needs. Under this scheme, the Punjab Government will provide all kinds of assistance as well as financial and technical assistance to all the progressive thinking students. Punjab Youth Industries Scheme will be the beginning of a new era for the golden future of the students as well as for Punjab. Punjab Yuva Udyog Yojana will prove to be a milestone in the education revolution. The aim of AAP government is not only to make the students pass degree or diploma but also to teach the students the skill of earning along with studies.
The ‘Schools of Eminence’ started by the Mann government are the cornerstone of this initiative. In these schools, the skills of students from class 9th to 12th are honed. Free preparation for competitive exams like JEE, NEET and civil services will also be provided here, which will prove successful for the bright future of the youth of Punjab. In April 2025, Chief Minister Mann inaugurated the ‘World Skills Excellence Complex’ in Ludhiana. It consists of a state-of-the-art Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and Multi-Skill Development Center (MSDC). The campus is capable of training more than 3,000 students annually.
Mann government has breathed new life into the ITI institutes of Punjab. Due to modern technology and better training, there has been a huge increase in the number of admissions in these institutions, which earlier was 50-60%, now it has reached 97%. The government is also using skill development to save the youth from the trap of drugs. In July 2025, a special course was launched to make students aware about the ill effects of drug addiction. The program aims to reach more than 8 lakh students and empower them to stay away from drugs.
Through ‘Punjab Skill Development Mission’, the government is also saving the youth of Punjab from the drug epidemic, thereby building a developing Punjab. The Mann government’s focus on skills education is an important investment in the future of Punjab’s youth. From ‘Schools of Eminence’ to modern ITIs and skill development centres, these initiatives are not only educating the youth but also making them economically self-reliant. This approach can establish Punjab as a state where education is directly related to employment and prosperity and all this is becoming possible under the Mann government, after many years a new era has started in the education sector of Punjab.
