Amritsar . Punjab Police is continuously taking action against criminal activities to maintain security and peace in the state. In this series, Amritsar Commissionerate Police recently achieved a major success and destroyed an illegal arms network linked to Pakistan. In this action, Amritsar Police arrested two accused and recovered six modern pistols from their possession, which include two Glocks and four .30 bore pistols. Two live cartridges were also seized. The arrested accused were related to arms smuggling and were supplying arms to gangsters on the instructions of foreign handlers. An FIR has been registered in the Islamabad police station under the Arms Act in the matter and further investigation is underway. Meanwhile, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police has started ‘Operation Prahar’ from Tuesday. The objective of this operation is to completely eliminate the network of foreign and local gangsters in the state. On the first day i.e. Operation Prahar Day 1, heavy police raids were conducted across the state. More than 2,000 police teams went to different areas and raided the hideouts and associates of 60 gangsters. During this period, 1,314 people who were suspected of supporting or helping the gangsters were detained. Now their verification and legal action is going on.
In Bathinda also, police raided the hideouts of gangsters in the morning. This action was taken under the leadership of SP City Narinder Singh. The objective of this campaign is not only to catch criminals involved in illegal activities, but also to maintain security confidence among the general public. Punjab Police is continuously working to cut the roots of organized criminals and gangsters in the state.
The police have also appealed to the general public that if they see any suspicious activity or have information about any gangster, they should immediately inform on the anti-gangster helpline 93946-93946.
