Amid tensions with Iran, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made an important appeal to the citizens of the country. He has urged people to avoid buying gold, reduce foreign travel and reduce petrol consumption. Apart from this, he has asked companies to expand their ‘work from home’ policies. Congress leader and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has given his response to this appeal of PM Modi. He said that these are not just teachings, but evidence of failure.
Writing on ‘ The Congress leader further said, “In the last 12 years, the country has been reduced to such a state that now the public has to be told what to buy and what not to buy, where to go and where not to go. Every time, the responsibility is passed on to the public so that they themselves can escape from the responsibility. Running the country is now beyond the capacity of a ‘compromising Prime Minister’.”
Addressing a public meeting in Hyderabad, Prime Minister Modi appealed to the people to avoid buying gold for a year. Referring to the Covid-19 era, he said that at that time the country had adopted methods like ‘work from home’, online meetings and video conferencing. We had become accustomed to these arrangements. Even today, the need of the hour is that we once again give priority to these methods.
He further said that due to the conflict with Iran, prices of petrol and diesel have increased globally. Therefore, saving fuel is of utmost importance. Currently, a bag of fertilizer is being sold for ₹3,000 in the international market; However, in India the same katta is being made available to farmers at a subsidized rate of ₹300.
