Islamabad, January 18 (). Just 24 hours after 23 people died in two road accidents in different provinces of Pakistan on Saturday, three people died due to over-speeding in Punjab.
Local officials said that a speeding car collided with a tree in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province. Three people lost their lives and one was injured in this accident.
An official of Rescue 1122 told Xinhua News Agency that the accident happened late Saturday night in Fateh Jang town of Attock district.
Rescue teams reached the spot and the bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital.
The injured person was given first aid before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
The officer cited high speed as the reason for the accident.
Earlier on Saturday, 23 people were killed and several injured in two separate road accidents reported from Balochistan and Punjab.
In the first incident, nine people lost their lives and 36 others were injured when a passenger coach overturned on the Makran Coastal Highway near Gwadar in Balochistan, according to local media reports.
According to the police, the accident occurred near Hudd Goth area of Ormara, when a coach going from Jiwani to Karachi lost control and overturned. This vehicle belonged to a private transport company named Al Usman.
In a separate tragic incident in Punjab’s Sargodha district, at least 14 people were killed when a mini-truck fell into a dry canal amid dense fog. The accident occurred near Ghalapur Bangla in Kot Momin tehsil, where the vehicle went off the road due to very low visibility.
Rescue officials said seven people died on the spot, while seven others succumbed to their injuries during treatment in nearby hospitals.
At the time of the accident, 23 people in the truck were traveling from Islamabad to Faisalabad to attend a funeral. The driver had chosen the local route as the motorway was closed due to fog. The dead also included women and children, all of whom were residents of Islamabad.
