Jaipur. With the Transport Department giving utmost priority to road safety and passenger safety, two sleeper passenger buses — MP44 ZD 9944 and AR11 L 1111, were seized in Chaumun area on October 25, 2025, after being found in serious violation of the provisions of bus body code AIS-119/52. Even before starting the campaign, alternative arrangements of two buses were made at the District Transport Office Chaumun. Of these, the passengers sitting in MP44 ZD 9944 bus were released in other buses till Sindhi Camp bus stop at around 4 am in the morning and the bus was confiscated. During this time, the transport inspectors of the District Transport Office, showing sensitivity and humanity, arranged food, water and other facilities for all the passengers traveling in the bus. There was no fire extinguishing system installed in the bus. Also, an LPG gas cylinder was found in this bus which could prove dangerous. It is noteworthy that transportation of flammable substances in passenger vehicles is prohibited. According to the length of this sleeper coach bus, the number of sleepers can be maximum in six rows and maximum can be 36 sleepers. But its vehicle owner had cut the chassis, extended the body behind it, made seven rows and installed a total of 50 slippers.
Similarly, the emergency door was not as per the rules and was blocked. Other emergency doors of the bus were also not as per the rules. The passengers of the second bus AR11 L 1111 were sent to their destination by an alternative bus as soon as the bus was seized. Through the action, the Transport Department gave the message that under any circumstances such unauthorized modified vehicles which pose a threat to the public will not be allowed to ply on the road and they will be confiscated and action will be taken as per rules.
Regional Transport Officer Jaipur II Dharmendra Kumar said that District Transport Officer Chaumau Anup Saharia and his team showed restraint and confiscated illegal vehicles and also provided buses while giving adequate respect to the passengers. The team has presented an excellent image of the transport department by communicating with the passengers and providing them facilities.
