Bhopal. A major accident was averted in Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni district on Monday evening when a training aircraft narrowly missed hitting a high-voltage power line during flight and crashed near Suktra village in Kurai police station area. According to the police, this incident happened around 6:30 pm. This incident spread panic in the area. The villagers reached the spot and rescued both the trainer (pilot) and the trainee safely. A video of the crash quickly went viral on social media.
Speaking to news agency , CS Tekam, Investigation Officer (IO) of Kurai police station said, “Both the trainer and the trainee are out of danger. They have been taken to the hospital. One has injuries on his head and the other on his face.”
The police officer said that the aircraft was a two-seater trainer plane. The officer identified the trainer and trainee as Ajit Anthony and Ashok Chhawa.
He said that we are waiting for instructions from higher authorities regarding the investigation. One of the wheels of the plane got entangled in a 33 KV high-tension line, causing the plane to separate from the tower before landing on the ground.
The police officer said that the training company has been working in this area since 2023.
According to eyewitnesses and initial investigation, the plane suddenly started falling due to a technical fault. Perhaps its power was lost and one of its wheels got stuck in a high-voltage line for some time.
The heavy load caused the wire to break, causing loud noises, sparks and panic. The police officer said that fortunately there was no major damage.
Local people said that when the aircraft hit the wires, sparks came out and within a few moments the villagers realized that the people sitting in the plane were in trouble. After this they reached the spot for help.
The villagers also alleged that this was not the first such incident, claiming that the training aircraft had overturned twice before while taking off from the runway. He warned that if the plane had remained stuck in the wires for a few more seconds, the consequences could have been much worse.
