The upcoming winter session of Parliament has been announced. President Draupadi Murmu has approved the government’s proposal in this regard. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju shared this information. Rijiju shared a post on Twitter and wrote, “Hon’ble President Draupadi Murmu has approved the government’s proposal to hold the winter session. The winter session of Parliament will run from December 1 to December 19, 2025.”
What are the expectations of the Parliamentary Affairs Minister?
Rijiju said, “We hope that this session will be constructive and fruitful, strengthening our democracy and fulfilling the aspirations of the people.” There will be 15 meetings in the entire session. It is noteworthy that the last monsoon session was full of controversies, in which there was speculation about the resignation of Vice President Dhankhar. The monsoon session of Parliament ran from 21 July to 21 August. Apart from this, this session was also affected by the opposition’s protest over Operation Sindoor and the opposition’s uproar over SIR ahead of Bihar elections.
A total of 21 meetings were held in the last session. There was to be a discussion in the Lok Sabha for 120 hours, but only 37 hours could be discussed. There was only 41 hours of discussion in Rajya Sabha. Twelve bills were passed in the Lok Sabha and 15 in the Rajya Sabha. The most discussed issue was the Constitution Amendment Bill, which pertains to the removal of the arrested Prime Minister, Chief Minister and ministers.
