In the final played at DY Patil Stadium, the Indian team became the world champion by defeating South Africa by 52 runs. The performance of Deepti Sharma, who wrote the story of India’s historic victory by scoring 58 runs and taking 5 wickets, was memorable throughout the tournament. He was chosen Player of the Series.
After being named Player of the Series, Deepti said, “I always enjoy whatever role I am given. I am ready to play in any situation because I love challenges. Today I had to play as per the situation and I enjoyed my role with both bat and ball. Laura played a very good innings. We were very calm.
