In the final played at DY Patil Stadium, the Indian team became the world champion by defeating South Africa by 52 runs. The performance of Deepti Sharma, who wrote the story of India’s historic victory by scoring 58 runs and taking 5 wickets, was memorable throughout the tournament. He was chosen Player of the Series.
After being named Player of the Series, Deepti said, “I always enjoy whatever role I am given. I am ready to play in any situation because I love challenges. Today I had to play as per the situation and I enjoyed my role with both bat and ball. Laura played a very good innings. We were very calm. We were always cheering each other, whatever drinks break or other break we got, we used that time to plan. “We used to discuss. We have won the World Cup. I would like to dedicate this trophy to my parents.”

Captain and opener Laura Wolvaardt scored a century for South Africa while chasing the target of 299 runs given by India. The South African captain, who had played an inning of 169 runs in the semi-finals, scored 101 runs in 98 balls with the help of 11 fours and 1 six. She was out as the seventh batsman. Wolvaardt single-handedly fought as a warrior for the team but due to lack of support from other batsmen, she could not turn the result of the match in the team’s favor.
