Actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Friday withdrew her petition from the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s refusal to quash the complaint filed against her for allegedly making derogatory remarks in connection with the 2020-21 farmers’ protest.

The Supreme Court told him, “This was not just a simple retweet and you had added ‘mirch masala’ to it.”

The Supreme Court clearly refused to hear her petition and said that she can present her views in the lower court. This case is related to Kangana’s retweet, in which she made a comment about an elderly female protester, which was considered defamatory.

After this comment of Kangana, 73-year-old Mahinder Kaur, resident of Bathinda, Punjab, filed a defamation case against her. This matter became more serious when the Punjab and Haryana High Court also rejected Kangana’s petition. Now this stance of the Supreme Court has made the legal path more difficult for Kangana.

In the Supreme Court, the bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta heard Kangana’s petition. As soon as the hearing started, Justice Mehta raised questions on Kangana’s remarks.

He said, “This was no ordinary retweet. You added your comment to it, added spice.” Kangana’s lawyer tried to clarify and said that his client has given clarification on his comments. But the court clearly said that this clarification can be given in the lower court.
