New Delhi, November 9 (IANS). Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said that the ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandir’ campaign is moving ahead with full commitment to provide accessible, affordable and comprehensive health facilities to all citizens. He said that under this campaign, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are being established in different areas of Delhi to provide primary and essential health services to the people near their homes. This initiative is based on the principle of ‘Time to Care’ and is in line with the goal of universal health coverage.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that now Delhi government will not run its health centers in rented buildings. He said that the government has enough government buildings available from where these health temples are being operated. At present 168 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are functioning in Delhi, while 187 more centers are planned to be started by December.
CM said that the government is making continuous and concerted efforts so that quality health services are available to the citizens near them and they do not have to make frequent trips to hospitals. These Arogya Mandirs are being established under the ‘Ayushman Bharat’ program under which sub-health centres, primary health centers and urban primary health centers are being upgraded into comprehensive primary health facilities. The objective of these centers is not only to treat common diseases but also to refer patients when needed and to provide respectful and quality health services as per the needs of the community.
The Chief Minister said that earlier ‘Mohalla Clinics’ were not able to expand their services due to limited facilities. On the other hand, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are equipped with modern and advanced infrastructure capable of delivering comprehensive and effective health services. Facilities like OPD services, diagnostic tests through external laboratories, free medicines, maternal and antenatal care, newborn and child health services, adolescent health, family planning, reproductive health, diagnosis and treatment of infectious and non-infectious diseases, eye and ENT care, basic dental services, care of the elderly, mental health check-up and emergency medical aid are being provided in these centres.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that this new framework is a major step towards integrated and inclusive primary health care. Indian Public Health Standards have been implemented in Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to ensure uniform quality of infrastructure, human resources, medicines, testing facilities, equipment and governance across all centres. This will provide continuous and equal health facilities to the citizens.
The Chief Minister further said that in the areas where Mohalla Clinics were functioning earlier, people are getting medical facilities through Arogya Mandirs while maintaining the continuity of health services. The objective of the government is to provide health services as well as to build trust among the people and promote a culture of ‘Wellness and Trust’. Ayushman Arogya Mandir is now becoming the new face of Delhi’s health system, giving a new identity and direction to the capital in the field of health.
