New Delhi, May 25 (IANS). The scorching heat continues across the country. The temperature has reached 45 degrees Celsius in many areas. In such a situation, Nautapa has started from today (Monday), which will continue till June 2. During these nine days of Nautapa, the earth gets extremely hot and the heat remains at its peak. In such a situation, health experts advise what to do and what not to do in the scorching heat.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that carelessness during extreme heat can prove dangerous. Therefore every person should take special precautions. At the same time, the risk of heat stroke, dehydration and heat stroke increases significantly during Nautapa. Especially the elderly, children and already ill people are more sensitive. Even small carelessness can cause big problems.

What to do during summer: Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Drink at least 3-4 liters of water throughout the day. Wear light, loose and cotton clothes that allow air to pass through. Cover your head, face and neck properly while going out. Use a hat, umbrella or scarf. Avoid direct sunlight and stay indoors between 12 noon and 4 pm. Avoid going out at this time.

What not to do: Do not do heavy or laborious work in the sun. Do not leave children and pets alone in a closed vehicle. The temperature inside the car increases very rapidly. Avoid alcohol, tea, coffee, cold drinks and fizzy drinks. These further dehydrate the body. Avoid going out or going to the market in the afternoon without any need.

Health experts say that it is most important to keep the body temperature under control in Nautapa. Take light and digestible food, you can use salt-sugar solution or ORS. If you feel dizzy, vomiting, excessive sweating or tired, seek medical help immediately.
