New Delhi, December 15 (IANS). As important as the right medicine is for sick people, their daily routine is equally important. Wrong habits weaken the treatment and prolong the disease, whereas the right daily routine gives the body the internal strength to become free from the disease.
Ayurvedacharya explains that if the patient follows some simple rules, recovery becomes faster and the chances of recurrence of the disease reduces. The first rule is to wake up in Brahmamuhurta. At this time, there is pure oxygen and vital air in the atmosphere, which is beneficial for the lungs, brain and hormone balance. Doing this regularly strengthens the digestive system and improves sleep.
Another important rule is to never stop the act of defecation. Holding stool, urine or gas increases Vata dosha, which is the cause of many diseases. The patient should drink lukewarm water, consume Triphala or Isabgol in the morning.
Cleaning the mouth and tongue is also a big step towards getting rid of diseases. White coating on the tongue is a sign of disease. Daily brushing of teeth with neem, acacia or other toothpaste and cleaning of tongue improves digestion and is helpful in increasing the effect of medicines.
Massaging the body daily with sesame, coconut or Mahabhringraj oil protects from many diseases. It reduces joint pain, nourishes the nerves and induces deep sleep. It is especially beneficial in winter. Correct method of bathing is also necessary. Ayurvedacharya explains that one should not take bath immediately after meals or late at night. It is best to take bath with lukewarm water. Pouring lukewarm water on the head and lukewarm water on the body improves blood circulation and removes fatigue and stiffness.
According to Ayurvedacharya, the patient should have light, warm, fresh and easily digestible food. Khichdi, moong dal, porridge, boiled vegetables and some ghee are best. Eating stale, cold, fried or overly spicy food can be harmful. Meal time should also be fixed. Dinner should be taken a few hours after sunset.
Better sleep for the patient is also the basis of recovery. Sleeping too much during the day and staying awake late at night are both harmful. Deep sleep of 6 to 7 hours repairs the body.
The body is completely related to the mind. In such a situation, to keep the body healthy, it is important to keep the mind also healthy. Meditation, pranayam, mantra chanting and positive thinking should be made a part of daily routine. Anxiety and stress prolong the disease.
