According to a study published in ‘The Lancet Child and Adolescent Health Journal’, children infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus can experience long-lasting COVID symptoms for at least two months. Study done on 0 to 14 year olds
Let us tell you that this study has been done on Danish children whose average age is 0-14 years. A survey was sent to mothers or guardians of children aged 0–14 years to conduct this study. The survey included those children whose corona report was found positive in January 2020 and July 2021. And the report of about 1100 children was received from this survey and then the report of these children was compared with the report of 33000 children whose report did not come positive even once. And 23 most common symptoms of COVID were asked in this survey.
Many symptoms seen in children
The study also found that most of the symptoms like abdominal pain, mood swings and rashes, rashes were seen in 0-3 year old children. On the other hand, symptoms like lack of attention, tremors, fatigue and mood swings were found in 4-11 year olds. Along with this, symptoms like mood swings, memory loss, fatigue etc. were found in 12-14 year old children.
Many problems seen in children infected with COVID
It has become clear from the report of this survey that despite the negative test, the risk of corona is not decreasing. Apart from this, children who get infected with COVID also have to face a lot of problems and young children are most at risk because their immune system is also not that strong. What was the main objective of the study
The overall aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of long-lasting symptoms, quality of life and absence from school or day care in children and infants, according to Professor Selina Kikenborg Berg from Copenhagen University Hospital in Denmark. The results suggest that children with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis are more likely to experience longer-lasting symptoms than children with a previous COVID-19 diagnosis.
