Today’s busy life and the habit of working while sitting for long hours has made the problem of back pain very common. While earlier this problem was more common in older people, now the youth are also increasingly falling prey to it. Health experts believe that wrong way of sitting, bad posture and continuously sitting in the same position are becoming the biggest causes of back pain.
According to doctors, bending over for a long time, using a mobile phone, working incorrectly on a laptop or sitting in a wrong posture on a chair puts extra pressure on the spine and muscles. Gradually this habit can cause problems like back pain, neck pain and muscle strain.
Experts say that many people sit in wrong posture all day long without paying attention. This problem is increasing rapidly especially among people who sit in front of computers for hours in the office. If the back is not straight while sitting, the shoulders are slouched or the screen is below eye level, there is constant pressure on the spine.
Waking up in the wrong way can also be the reason
Not only sitting posture, but wrong posture or lifting heavy objects can also cause back pain. Experts say that lifting weight by bending suddenly puts stress on the spine and waist muscles, which can cause injury or severe pain.
Experts gave easy tips for prevention
According to health experts, back pain can be avoided to a great extent by adopting some easy habits.
While sitting, always keep your back straight and take support of the chair. Keep the computer or laptop screen at eye level. Walk a little or do stretching every 30-40 minutes. When lifting heavy objects, bend your knees instead of your waist. Avoid too soft mattress while sleeping. Do regular yoga and light exercise.
Physical activity is important
Doctors say that the habit of sitting continuously weakens the muscles of the body. In such a situation, walking, yoga or stretching for at least 30 minutes daily is very important. Especially yoga asanas like “Bhujangasana”, “Marjari Asana” and “Tadasana” are considered helpful in strengthening the waist.
When to take doctor’s advice?
If back pain persists, there is tingling in the legs or you feel difficulty in getting up and sitting, then you should immediately contact the doctor. Sometimes persistent pain can also be a sign of a serious problem related to a slipped disc or nerves.
