What’s the news: Adani Group has announced the world’s largest single-site battery energy storage project in Khavda, Gujarat. This 1126 MW/3530 MW-hour BESS system will be operational by March 2026.

Adani Group is now entering the battery energy storage sector. The company has said that a battery system with 1126 MW power and 3530 MW-hour capacity will be built in Khavda, Gujarat. This project is targeted to be commissioned by March 2026 and is being said to be a major part of the country’s clean energy efforts.

The company said in the statement that this system will handle peak power demand and increase the reliability of the grid. It will have advanced energy management systems and use modern lithium-ion battery technology. The company described the Khavra Renewable Plant as the world’s largest combined renewable and storage park and stressed the importance of the project.

This will affect power supply and grid operation. This will support supply during times of high demand for electricity and help balance out variations from renewable sources. Reduction of transmission congestion and better use of renewable power can benefit both grid operators and end users.

The main details of the project are clear. Capacity is 1126 MW and storage is 3530 MW-hour. It will be integrated with advanced energy management and will use lithium-ion batteries. The company has also laid out a roadmap going forward: plans to deploy 15 gigawatt-hours of BESS by fiscal 2027 and aim for a total of 50 gigawatt-hours over the next five years.

Now the time limit for what will happen next has also been given. The first big storage park is to be commissioned in Khavra by March 2026. The company will then look to add 15 GWh capacity by FY27 and plan to reach a total of 50 GWh in the next five years. This information has been given according to the company’s statement.

In Brief: Adani announces 1126 MW / 3530 MWh BESS project at Khavda. The system aims to be operational by March 2026. Objective: To manage peak demand and enhance grid reliability. Technology: Lithium-ion battery and advanced energy management. Forward target: 15 GWh by FY27 and 50 GWh in next 5 years.
