The Central Government has launched the e-Gate facility under the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveler Program (FTI-TTP). Under this facility, NRIs and OCI card holders can pass through the gate directly without standing in long immigration lines. This facility is available at airports in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Amritsar, Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram and Trichy.
What is e-Gate?
This is a self-service kiosk system started by CBI and Home Ministry. In this, passengers can scan passport, do biometric verification and can directly exit the gate. Like it happens at the airports of Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
Aadhar card will not be valid for e-Gate registration
Let us tell you that Aadhaar card is not valid in e-Gate registration for NRIs. For this, election identity card, electricity or telephone bill (last 3 months), driving license, passport of spouse (if the address matches), passport of parents (for minors) and for NRIs living abroad, government identity card showing the current foreign address.
How to register
Visit the official portal: https://ftittp.mha.gov.in/fti/ Sign up with email and captcha code. Account is created after OTP and email verification. Fill personal information as per passport. Scan and upload the photocopy of the passport and address pages. OCI card holders have to upload the scanned copy of the first and last page of the OCI. Complete the biometric (fingerprint and face image) process. This can be done at airports or FRRO offices. Registration will be approved after biometric verification.
Keep these things in mind
Passport must be valid for at least 6 months at the time of application. The membership period is for 10 years or till the expiry of the passport. Passport photograph should not be older than 6 months, should have white background and be in JPEG format. Passport scan should be in PDF format. ECR passport holders and children below 7 years of age cannot apply. For children ages 7–18, a parent or guardian’s email and mobile number can be used.
