Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi has announced that only ships of friendly countries will be allowed to pass through the important sea route of the Strait of Hormuz. Ships from which countries will get safe entry?
According to Iran’s government news agency IRNA, the government has released a list of countries that it considers its friends. Ships from these countries will not face any problem in passing through the sea route.
India: Indian merchant and oil ships will be given safe passage.
China and Russia: Iran has kept both these countries in its friend list.
Iraq and Pakistan: There will be no restriction on transit to these neighboring countries also.
Japan: Even with Japan, Iran is ready to give way after talks.
Iranian officials have made it clear that ships that follow security rules and do not engage in any activity against Iran will be provided safe passage.
