Aviation company SpiceJet has taken a big decision to improve its services and provide convenience to the passengers. The company has decided to add 10 more aircraft to increase its fleet. For this, the airline has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). SpiceJet aims to increase the total number of aircraft in its fleet to 60 so that flights can be operated on maximum routes.
Target of new aircraft and flights
SpiceJet has signed to add 10 additional aircraft to its fleet on February 19, 2026. The company has made a plan under which it wants to double its capacity by ‘Winter 2026’.
After this expansion, the airline aims to operate more than 300 flights daily. This expansion will be done through a mixture of wet lease and damp lease. In a damp lease, the aircraft and maintenance are provided by the lessor, but the crew and insurance are borne by the airline.
Return and funding of old aircraft
Not only new aircraft, but SpiceJet is also bringing back its old grounded aircraft. The plan is to bring about 10 grounded aircraft back into service by April 2026. For this, 19 engines have been sent for repair.
The company has also taken several steps to improve its financial position:
Rs 3,000 crore raised through QIP in September 2024. Lease dues were restructured with Carlyle Aviation Management. After this news in the stock market, an increase in the shares of the company has been seen.
SpiceJet CMD Ajay Singh says that this expansion is very important to meet the increasing demand and increase the reliability of flights.
