There is a good news for the people living in Uttar Pradesh. If you are also planning a trip or important work for the next year i.e. 2026, then this information is very useful for you. The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has released the official holiday calendar for the year 2026. In this calendar, complete details of the festivals and national festival holidays falling throughout the year are given.

In the year 2026, government employees will get a total of 24 public and 31 restricted holidays, see complete mathematics.

According to the holiday calendar of 2026 released by the Uttar Pradesh government, this time the employees of the state will get a total of 24 public holidays. Apart from this, provision for 31 restricted holidays has also been made in the calendar. This simply means that if you are planning to go on a long holiday, then you can book your tickets and travel in advance keeping these dates in mind. This list of the government includes national festivals, religious festivals and local festivals, due to which government offices, schools and banks will remain closed in the entire state.

From January to December, here is the complete list of public holidays in Uttar Pradesh for 2026.

According to the list released by the government, the major festivals falling in the year 2026 and their dates are as follows:

January: Republic Day will be celebrated on 26 January (Monday). Apart from this, there will be a holiday of Hazrat Ali Jayanti (or 23 January Basant Panchami) on 3 January (Saturday). March: Holi, the festival of colors, is on March 3 (Tuesday). After this, there will be holiday of Eid-ul-Fitr (according to moon sighting) on ​​21st March (Saturday), Ram Navami on 27th March (Friday) and Mahavir Jayanti on 31st March (Tuesday). April: Good Friday on 3 April (Friday) and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti will be celebrated. May: There will be a holiday of Buddha Purnima on May 1 (Friday) and Bakrid / Eid al-Adha (as per moon sighting) on ​​May 27 (Wednesday). June: There will be Muharram holiday on 26th June (Friday). August: Independence Day will be celebrated on 15th August (Saturday), Eid-e-Milad (probable) on 25th August (Tuesday) and Raksha Bandhan on 28th August (Friday). September: There will be a holiday for Shri Krishna Janmashtami on 4th September (Friday). October: There will be a holiday of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October (Friday), Mahanavami on 20th October (Tuesday) and Vijayadashami/Dussehra on 21st October (Wednesday). November: Diwali is falling on 8th November (Sunday). Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on 9 November (Monday), Bhai Dooj on 11 November (Wednesday) and Guru Nanak Jayanti on 24 November (Tuesday). December: At the end of the year, there will be Hazrat Ali Jayanti (or Chaudhary Charan Singh Jayanti) on 23 December (Wednesday) and Christmas holiday on 25 December (Friday).

Before handling work in banks, please check the dates, there will be closure on festivals along with second and fourth Saturdays.

Apart from the state government holidays, the status of holidays for 2026 has also become clear for the banking sector. If you have any important work related to the bank, then you will have to keep these dates in mind. Apart from festivals, banks will also remain closed on second and fourth Saturdays in 2026.

Major Bank Holidays and Weekend List:

January: January 10th and 24th are the second and fourth Saturdays. Banks will remain closed on Republic Day on 26 January. February: 14 February (2nd Saturday), 15 February (Mahashivratri) and 28 February (4th Saturday). March: There will be holidays on March 3 (Holi), March 14 (second Saturday), March 21 (Eid), March 27 (Ram Navami) and March 28 (fourth Saturday). April: 3 April (Good Friday), 11 April (2nd Saturday), 14 April (Ambedkar Jayanti) and 25 April (4th Saturday). May: 1 May, 9 May (2nd Saturday), 23 May (4th Saturday) and 27 May (Bakrid). August: 8 August (2nd Saturday), 15 August (Independence Day), 22 August (4th Saturday) and Raksha Bandhan (28 August). October: 2 October (Gandhi Jayanti), 10 October (2nd Saturday), 20-21 October (Dussehra) and 24 October (4th Saturday). November: Banks may remain closed on November 8, 9 and 11 around Diwali, with Saturdays falling on November 14 and 28. December: Banks will not function on December 12 (second Saturday), December 25 (Christmas) and December 26 (fourth Saturday).
