New Delhi, April 28 (IANS). President Draupadi Murmu’s visit to Himachal Pradesh has been changed due to bad weather. Rashtrapati Bhavan Secretariat has issued an order canceling the tour of Atal Tunnel (Rohtang) proposed on April 29.
The President is on a visit to Himachal Pradesh’s Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra, Shimla from April 27 to May 1. During this tour, the Atal Tunnel program was scheduled for April 29, but due to adverse weather conditions, it has been decided to cancel the program.
Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Government, Secretary to the Governor, Secretary to the Chief Minister and concerned officials have been informed about this and directed to take necessary action.
Meanwhile, a grand state banquet was organized in the honor of President Draupadi Murmu at Himachal Pradesh Lok Bhawan, Shimla on Tuesday evening. The President reached Lok Bhawan around 7 pm, where she was welcomed by Governor Kavinder Gupta, his wife Bindu Gupta and Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia.
The Governor and his wife welcomed the President at the ‘Aditya Room’ of Lok Bhavan. The President also had cordial talks with the members of the Governor’s family. After this the President attended the state banquet organized in the ‘Darbar Hall’ of Lok Bhawan.
On this occasion, Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Health Minister Dr. Dhani Ram Shandil, Education Minister Rohit Thakur, MP Dr. Sikandar Kumar, Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Chairman Captain Rameshwar Singh, ARTRAC Chief of Staff Lieutenant General S.S. Dahiya, Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari, High Court judges, senior officials and distinguished citizens were present.
During the visit of the President, the culture and hospitality of Himachal is being specially showcased in the programs organized in his honor by the state government.
