Mumbai, March 28 (IANS). Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday issued a stern warning against those spreading misinformation over fuel shortage or possible lockdown and clarified that there are no such plans.
He clarified that there are no plans for a lockdown and India is fully prepared to deal with the current global fuel situation.
He told journalists that some elements were deliberately spreading confusion and panic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his virtual meeting with all the Chief Ministers on Friday, directed the states to take strict action against those spreading such rumours. Spreading fake news in these sensitive times is against the interest of the nation, and we will deal with it sternly.
To further safeguard the state from global energy crises, the Chief Minister said the Maharashtra government is accelerating the expansion of Pipeline Natural Gas (PNG).
He further said that we have recently issued a Government Resolution (GR) to relax the conditions for laying gas pipelines in all municipal corporations. By switching LPG consumption to PNG in urban areas, we can ensure that our energy reserves are managed more efficiently during international crises.
Although India has felt the impact of the ongoing geopolitical tensions, Fadnavis assured that the country remains in a stable position due to active diplomacy and strategic planning.
He said that on Friday the Prime Minister chaired an important meeting with Chief Ministers of all states to discuss the impact of the Middle East conflict on India’s economy and energy security.
Praising the leadership of the Prime Minister, Fadnavis said that while many developed and neighboring countries are struggling with fuel shortage and are resorting to the policies of four-day working week and work from home, India has managed to avoid such a crisis. All the Chief Ministers collectively praised Prime Minister Modi for handling the global turmoil.
