Doda, April 11 (IANS). BJP MLA from Doda West Shakti Raj Parihar has expressed gratitude towards the Central Government for allocating Rs 4,200 crore under the first batch of the fourth phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Jammu and Kashmir (Union Territory).
Speaking to IANS, BJP MLA Shakti Raj Parihar said, “I believe that the biggest problem facing the people of Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar is road connectivity. There are still many villages which are not connected by road. Rs 4,200 crore has been released to Jammu and Kashmir under PMGSY. Out of this, Rs 600 crore has been allocated to Doda district. Therefore, I express my gratitude to the Central Government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
Work on some roads has started in Doda district, but clearance for some is yet to be obtained from the Forest Department. In batch 2 of PMGSY, 46 projects are proposed for the district. The remaining amount will be completed in Batch 3. Our effort is to build roads to all the villages. For this, continuous work will be done with the help of the Central Government.
Earlier, on December 20, 2025, for the first time after independence, road construction started in Hirni village located in Assar block of Doda district under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the foundation stone of which was laid by BJP MLA Shaktiraj Parihar. This road is about 15 kilometers long and is being built at a cost of Rs 73 crore.
Let us tell you that under the poverty alleviation strategy, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was started by the Central Government to connect the areas cut off from the mainstream. The Central Government is attempting to establish high and uniform technical and management standards and facilitate policy making and planning at the state level to ensure sustainable management of the rural road network.
